History of Prospects
Founded in 1976 by Reverend David and Madeleine Potter, Prospects has seen remarkable growth throughout the United Kingdom. The Charity was known as "A Cause for Concern" for 20 years, changing its name to “Prospects” in 1997.
David, a former Baptist minister, became the Charity’s Director and led the organisation for over 20 years. He was awarded an M.B.E. in 2005 for lifelong services to people with learning disabilities.
The Charity was established to meet the needs of Christian families who wanted their children with learning disabilities to be cared for by Christian care workers. It has continued to develop its unique style of support for the whole person – body, mind and spirit.
Right from the beginning of the Charity the provision of quality professional support and understanding of people's spiritual needs has provided a powerful combination leading to real choice for people with learning disabilities and their families.
Over the years thousands of people have benefited from the charity’s support and activities which now reach widely across the UK and now into a number of other countries.
