1,000 miles to walk - Pete Winmill's newsletter special
It really isn’t that long since you received a newsletter from me. The last one is still relevant but I wanted to ask you to get involved with what potentially could be the biggest awareness raising campaign that Prospects has ever initiated.
Tony Phelps-Jones is embarking on a 1,000 mile walk throughout the UK but “Why?” I hear you ask …….
Here is what Tony has to say:
“Hello - I’m a Director of Prospects and in my work I hear too many stories about people with learning disabilities being abused, marginalised and denied choices. So often they are made to feel unimportant – invisible. I want to change that and together we can. I’m going to walk 1,000 miles to draw attention to this situation and raise the money needed to start changing things. I invite you to join me and my friends on this walk. Walk With Me; help transform lives.”
Would you be willing to get involved in an amazing journey? You might be able to walk a few hundred yards, a few miles or many more. You may feel that you could invite others to walk or come along to the events that will be happening each day. It’s an opportunity to change lives.
Are you keen to see churches across the UK seeking actively to be places that are open and welcoming to everyone. Do you care enough to make a difference?
Well, now it is up to us to take action. Tony has thrown down the challenge. What are we going to do? I hope to be with Tony every evening of the walk in the South. I shall be walking some of the way but not by any means all of it. I would ask you to consider sponsoring Tony. An easy way to give is via the Just Giving website: http://www.justgiving.com/prospectswalk

Hopefully there is an event somewhere near you.
Praise
- For the many volunteers organising the walks across the UK
- For a growing level of interest in taking part
Prayer…
- For Tony’s stamina – 1,000 miles is a long way!
- For safety along the way
- For many others to join Tony along the route
- For positive media interest, both secular and Christian
- For interest to lead to prayer and practical support – an encouragement to us all
- Young people and others to catch the vision
- For successful fundraising (our target is £100,000)
Have a great year, whatever you do.
From Christine and myself,
with every blessing,
Pete Winmill
