Trowbridge: Friends Link launch party!

On Saturday, the 5th February 2012, the new project Trowbridge Friends Link launched!  

 

The Trowbridge Friends Link is a friendship agency for adults with a learning disability. It was started locally as people thought an agency would be good to help people who want to meet other people.

It is about doing things together in small groups with other people who enjoy doing the same things. Friends Link will hold events where you can get to know new people and find out what activities you enjoy and can take part in. They will organise events members want so there's always something different to try.

Coordinator Cath Pilling writes:

"Thank you to everyone who braved the cold and snow to attend the launch party. There were 68 of us in total and we enjoyed a variety of activities to help us find out what you enjoy doing. I know lots of you met up with old friends and I hope you were able to make some new friends too." 

These are the Activities planned so far: 

• Tuesday 14th February Swimming at Trowbridge Pool and/or lunch at Trowbridge Garden centre.
  Meet in reception at Clarendon Pool at 11.45, cost non-member 2.85, carer free. Kinetica members free.
  After our swim we will walk to the Garden Centre, meet 1.30 for lunch or drink. Cost drink 1.30, lunch 4.50 or more. 
• Monday 20th February Walk in Southwick Country Park and/or Drink at Squirrels Tea Room, Hope Nature Centre Meet outside the tea room at 2pm for a walk
  Meet outside the tea room at 3pm for a drink, Cost 1.50 drink 
• Thursday 1st March Bowling at Christie Miller Sports Centre, Bowerhill, Melksham.
  Meet in the entrance at 2pm, Total cost 5 [includes snack from machine] 
• Wednesday 7th March - Swimming at Bradford-on-Avon Disabled swimming session in small pool 11.15 -12.15
  Kinetica members free, Disabled non-members 2.85, Carers free 
• Friday 16th March Coffee and crafts at Bethesda Baptist Church 2 - 4pm
  Cost 2 
• Monday 19th March Walk in Southwick Country Park and/or Drink at Squirrels Tea Room, Hope Nature Centre
  Meet outside the tea room at 2pm for a walk
  Meet outside the tea room at 3pm for a drink, Cost 1.50 drink
