Showing true love - Valentines Day 2010
This year's Valentines Day falls on a Sunday!!
Valentine’s Day so often excludes single people and those for whom a romantic relationship seems out of reach. But the Christian community has in Valentine’s Day an opportunity to reclaim and celebrate true love as a God given wonder!
Christians are to model God’s inclusive love; let's do it by drawing attention to and including those who are normally excluded from Valentine’s Day celebrations.
What’s the idea?
Organise an inclusive Valentine’s Day event for friends, family or church members - inviting people who would otherwise perhaps be on their own - or encourage your church to do it together.
By organising a Valentine’s Day event in support of Prospects, you could not only be a witness to real love but in addition, this could help to raise funds so Prospects can bring the Good News of God’s infinite love to hundreds more people with learning disabilities.
Here is a list of the resources we can support you with:
- A leaflet of ideas and ways to celebrate an inclusive Valentine’s Day
- Samples of posters and leaflets that can be personalised with the details of your Valentine’s Day event
- Collection boxes for dinner tips
- Samples of bookmarks and Thank you cards for small parties
- A booklet filled with ideas of very simple ways to do Valentine’s craft, sweets, decorations, food and drinks to enhance your party.
- Templates of angels and hearts
- Prayer heats to place prayer requested by your guests.
Please contact Coral de la Zerda Hoffmann on 01189 516 965 or email her at coralzh@prospects.org.uk - she will support you to prepare for a great celebration of true love.
