Ambassadors for Prospects
The launch of Prospects Council of Ambassadors took place on Tuesday 24th February with a lunch in a House of Commons dining room. Lyndon Bowring, Chairman of the new Council, said there was a sense of privilege in serving people with learning disabilities and issued a call to the Council to help Prospects deliver the resources needed to make a radical difference in the lives of all those who needed support to live the full life that Jesus offered freely to all.
The Ambassadors are a mix of people from all walks of life who have committed themselves to be advocates of Prospects work and advise and assist the leadership of Prospects in raising both the awareness of people with learning disabilities and the necessary funds to resource the vital work of Causeway and International Prospects. Speaking to the Ambassadors were Lesley Biffen, from Bridgewater, and Sarah Redgrove from Lincoln. Lesley explained how being supported by Prospects had given her much wanted independence and the environment where she could grow her Christian faith. Sarah, who is a founder member of a Causeway group in Lincoln told the Ambassadors of how she struggled to understand Church and ideas about God until she went to a Causeway group. She had prayed for 10 years for a group to start in Lincoln and described how her life had been transformed by the opportunity to have a relationship with Jesus that was meaningful to her.
The Ambassadors have personal experience of learning disability and are pledged to help raise funds for Prospects work and many expressed how they had been inspired by Lesley and Sarah’s stories. Prospects is very grateful for the commitment and enthusiasm of the Council of Ambassadors.
