Holidays and EventsProspects organises and runs many holidays and events each year from special meetings at major Christian festivals to holiday weekends, regional celebrations, and even a week-long holiday in France at the Spring Harvest Holidays site on the Vendee. A Silver Partnership
For over 25 years Prospects has been leading accessible meetings at Spring Harvest. It all began in 1986 when Prospects’ founder David Potter observed to an event leader that there was nothing at Spring Harvest suitable for people with learning disabilities. “Come back next year and do something,” was the reply. Since then, thousands of people with learning disabilities have heard the message of Jesus expressed understandably and found faith, and countless Spring Harvesters and their churches have been enriched as they took accessibility back home with them.
Since then Prospects has formed partnerships with the Keswick Convention, Grapevine, New Horizon, ECG and People Without Limits to run special programmes within each conference. This helps events to be increasingly accessible and inclusive, setting standards and offering models of ministry that can be replicated in local churches.
There is no doubt that having people with learning disabilities at the event has enriched the Keswick experience for our guests. Their involvement in the Convention, and especially in the main evening celebrations is a wonderful demonstration of the inclusive church in action.’
